Granite vs Quartz Worktops

Difference between granite and quartz worktops

Many British think that a natural stone surface is the right choice for their home: These are durable, high-quality surfaces that give the kitchen or bathroom a luxurious and unique look.

Still, despite the fact that a natural stone surface is the right choice for them, many of us seem to be unable to choose from one of the three types of surfaces commonly used in the kitchen: granite, quartz (synthetic) or marble. All three are strong, all three come in dozens of designs … What exactly are the differences between these three surfaces?

Granite Surface: Durable and Unique

Granite is one of the most popular choices for a home surface in Israel, and the reason: granite is characterized by high resistance to scratches and bruises. In addition, the molecular structure of the stone makes it exceptionally resistant to stains (not all types) – easy to clean from granite countertops,

making it especially preferred as a surface for families where there is a lot of activity in the kitchen. Each natural stone is different from its previous one so each stone is a spectacular story of beauty.

However, if the strong side of a granite surface is at its highest durability, the weaker side actually comes from the decora

tive angle. While there are dozens of spectacular designs of granite countertops in a variety of colors (brown, gray, golden, blue, and more), but compared to the wide variety of other home surfaces, there may be hundreds of models to choose from, which is less freedom of choice. It can be comforting that whatever design you choose, the exceptional durability of the granite ensures that the color will not fade for many years.

Quartz Stone: All Rainbow Colors

For the sake of good order, it is important to first clarify something about quartz surfaces: While the mineral quartz from which the surfaces are made is a natural material, the quartz makes up only about 93% of the surfaces, so it is defined as a synthetic surface. The balance of quartz surfaces is made of other materials, such as polymers and pigments that give the surface color and other features. Top brands in quartz surfaces are well-known names such as Spanish Constantino’s Sailstone, Caesar Stone from Israel, and Keystone.

These companies specialize in creating high-quality quartz surfaces, but the composition of the surface still dictates its advantages and disadvantages: Although durable quartz surfaces have a certain absorbency, but not the same level of granite or marble. For illustration, it is not recommended to challenge a quartz surface by placing a hot pot on it. At the same time, the control of pigment composition allows manufacturers to produce dozens of surprising and exciting collections and designs each year, in a variety of colors and styles, which can fit any home or structure. For example, the spectacular Elysal collection of the amazing Sailstone launched this year.
